Halloween is nearly upon us, and you may be wondering where you can get your fix of spooky celebrations in Bristol. Well, look no further, because we have some of the hottest October events for your calendar. From family fun to all-out adult fright-fest, here are 6 places you can celebrate Halloween in and around the city.
27 Oct–4 Nov
£10 for adults, £18.50 for children
This autumn, Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park is playing host to a family-friendly Halloween extravaganza. There will be exciting activities happening all over the park, including free pumpkin carving, but the real fun will happen at Headmistress Broomhilda’s Witch & Wizard School. Little ones will be sorted into a house, attend classes in Potions and Spells, and even complete a broomstick flying course – not bad for one afternoon!
20 Oct–4 Nov
1 child goes free with each paying adult
Once again Bristol Zoo Gardens is throwing open its gates and welcoming in ghouls and ghosts galore! There will be plenty of fun things for families to do, including close-up encounters with bats and other creepy critters, a Halloween-themed treasure trail, face painting, storytelling and more. Plus, keep an eye out for the wicked witch roaming around the gardens.
20 Oct–2 Nov
Pumpkins start at £2.50
To prepare for their biggest event of the year, Farrington’s Farm has planted more than 40,000 pumpkins in their fields, and you can go along, pick one and carve it into something ghoulish. There will be other activities as well, including tractor-trailer rides and the brilliant Pumpkin Smash, where everyone can join in squashing the leftover pumpkins!
If you’re after an adults-only Halloween event, the ‘Horror in the Caves’ series could be for you. Horror and sci-fi movie favourites, including Aliens, The Lost Boys and The Descent, will be screening in Redcliffe Caves – an atmospheric underground venue with a perfect chill in the air. Not for the fainthearted, why not disappear underground to watch some genuinely spine-tingling movie classics?
All year round
