In the final part of our three post blog looking at the top ten reasons to live in Bristol we look at reasons 7,8,9 and 10.
7. Home to two thriving universities
One of the jewels in Bristol’s crown must surely be its further education institutions. Its two successful universities – Bristol and UWE – with campuses around much of the city inject youthful vitality into the streets. The universities also bring prestige and jobs to Bristol and we are sure that with around 45,000 students they must keep more than one or two public houses in business!
8. Bristol: A Shopper’s dream
Not many people who live in Bristol will be disappointed with the shopping on offer. With Cribbs Causeway on the edge of town and now Cabot Circus transforming the Centre, Bristol is in the premier league of shopping in the UK. And if the high street chains are not your cup of tea then Gloucester Road proudly claims to have the largest number of independent shops on any single street in the UK! Clifton Village also has a charming collection of independent shops – if you can afford the price-tags!
9. Sports fans
We have included sport here because Bristol is represented nationally in several of the country’s favourite sports: there are two football league teams, a rugby team and Gloucestershire County Cricket Club. Living in Bristol lets you cheer on a variety of teams on a Saturday afternoon if you wish, and the city does boast an exciting snooker champion.
10. Good transport connections to the rest of the country
At just over an hour and a quarter on the fast train to London, 45 minutes by car to Cardiff and under an hour by plane to Edinburgh, Dublin and the North, Bristol is exceptionally well connected to the rest of the UK: a fact which must surely be one of the secrets of its success. It is the gateway to the South-West in one direction and with two major train-stations and an international airport, whether you are heading somewhere in the UK or overseas, it is easy to get away (and of course return!).
That concludes our top ten things to love about living in Bristol. We hope you agree it is a fantastic place to live. If you are looking to rent a property in Bristol call Gough Quarters today and let us help you find the perfect property for you.
